The Project: Castelsilano Borgo Experience
A cultural and tourism regeneration project between tangible and intangible works

“Castelsilano Borgo Experience” is a project funded under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP – M1C3 – “Attractiveness of Villages”), aimed at enhancing and promoting the cultural, natural, and food and wine heritage of the village of Castelsilano. The initiative combines physical interventions with cultural and digital actions to offer an authentic, accessible, and immersive tourism experience.

Tangible Works

The tangible interventions involved the creation of physical structures and tools to improve visitorreception and orientation, including:

  • Equipped Tourist InfoPoint: A dedicated welcome area featuring interactive devices, digital kiosks, informational support materials, and promotional content.
  • Integrated Tourist Signage: A comprehensive system of plaques, illustrative panels, directional signs, and geolocated maps designed to guide visitors along routes and enhance content engagement.
  • Promotional Materials and Gadgets: Bilingual brochures, map-guides, roll-ups, and branded items that strengthen the project’s identity and create a memorable experience.
  • Infrastructure Improvements: Upgrading of physical spaces, setup of a Wi-Fi network, and installation of technological equipment to support tourism services.

Intangible Works

The project also made significant investments in enhancing cultural content and building a shared narrative of the territory:

  • Territorial Database: A detailed census of cultural assets, local activities, natural resources, and traditions was carried out, resulting in a dynamic and accessible digital archive.
  • Development of the “Castelsilano Borgo Experience” App: A digital tool for smartphones and tablets that allows users to explore the village through thematic routes, interactive maps, multimedia content, booking services, and integrated QR codes.
  • Creation of Visual Identity: The project developed a distinctive logo and a consistent visual communication system based on three intertwined experiential routes: cultural, natural, and food and wine.
  • Digital Communication Strategy: Official social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X) were launched and curated to promote the village in an engaging, far- reaching, and up-to-date way.

The Three Experiential Routes

The project is structured around three thematic routes that shape the tourism offering:

  • Cultural Route: Dedicated to the discovery of the village’s historical, artistic, and architectural heritage, with in-depth content, stories, and curiosities.
  • Taste and Hospitality Route: A journey through local businesses, traditional flavors, hospitality venues, and artisanal products tied to local heritage.
  • Nature Route: An immersive experience among trails, landscapes, biodiversity, and places connected to the area's pastoral and religious memory.

An Open-Air Museum

The integration of tangible and intangible elements transforms Castelsilano into a true open-air museum, where technology meets tradition and the landscape becomes storytelling. The entire system is designed to guide visitors step by step, offering a personalized and engaging journey through local history, nature, and culture.
The objective is twofold: to strengthen the identity of the territory and to attract new visitors by promoting a model of experiential, sustainable, and high-quality tourism.
