It was built in 1952. The site is a destination for pilgrimages, especially in the summer. The main celebration takes place on the second Sunday of August each year and is known for its fascinating and evocative atmosphere.
During the festivities, the statue of the Blessed Virgin of the Countryside is carried at night to the Mother Church, where it remains for the entire novena. On the day of the solemn feast, the statue is paraded through the streets of the town, accompanied by a marching band and a long procession of faithful, including pilgrims from neighboring villages. Late in the evening, the statue is solemnly returned to its chapel in a torchlit procession. The celebrations conclude nearby with fireworks, accompanied by music from the band.
